• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

Thank You

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

He tossed a knife again, far off from the target... But it was getting into the wall just fine now... Which was better than starting with it simply hitting the wall and then clattering to the floor. "No, I don't normally do this, if that's what you mean." He picked up another knife from the table and looked at it, weighing it in his hands as he thought carefully. He could feel her eyes on him - watching him as she was.

"I can just control my emotions a bit more like this." His fingers ran along the blade carefully, actually keeping mind to keep himself from being cut. "That's what's normal about it for me... Compared to..." He looked up at the girl, but then down at the knife again. "Compared to everything else in my head." What else could he say? Compared to his nightmares? Compared to his dreams? Compared to the fact that he seemed to be breaking down into tears daily still? Compared to the fear that he would never truly be done mourning this death?

"Hm." Cara murmured to herself. From what she'd gathered, what she'd seen, Sebastian was far from normal. And that wasn't really necessarily a bad thing. Except when it was. Stealing things to make himself feel better? With the bow it was pretty harmless. Unless it wasn't. What if practicing got boring here? What if he needed more distractions and used his training to do something bad.

What kind of bad she didn't know but something told her it was possible. Something always told her it was possible with people she didn't know. Possible for them to make the wrong choices. Not just the wrong choices...the worst choices. She'd seen it in real life, but silently observing (okay sometimes spying on) her peers. She'd seen it in the Games. When under pressure, when stressed or grief stricken...people weren't themselves. They didn't awful things. Terrible, horrible, unspeakable things no one would ever have guessed they were capable of. Not just to survive...sometimes it seemed like people had this invisible switch that would break them when pushed too far. And they'd transform into monsters...monster who just wanted to hurt other people...

She snapped herself out of her revere with a shiver and strode forward quickly, snatching the knives from the wall. Sebastian made her uncomfortable because she didn't know where he stood. Or how close to that line he stood, she supposed. She avoided people who were in...precarious emotional situations. She couldn't trust them. She felt if they were truly smart they'd know they shouldn't even trust themselves...but she doubted anyone would want to hear that sort of thing or take well to it.

"Well if you need a distraction...and practicing on your own gets...tiresome...I can always use someone else to train with," she offered, her expression guarded as she watched him somewhat warily. Cara wasn't sure why she'd offered. Especially after mentally pointing out to herself all the reasons she shouldn't offer a kindness to this person. Maybe she thought if she kept a close eye on him, she could help mitigate any damage he might possibly cause to her family. Maybe she secretly hoped she could help him out, that maybe if he didn't have someone to talk to and be normal around she could help him...and in doing so prevent anything bad happening to Orsino's friend. Brother. Loved one.

She turned away and hurled a knife at the wall grimly. She was probably just deluding herself in any case. It was better to just keep her distance. Watch and report to someone else should she see something wrong.

Sebastian took some knives again - they were beginning to run out of knives he could just grab up from the table... Not that it mattered. There were knives still around to throw. Just not as easy as reaching over and grabbing them from Cara.

And then... there was that offer. Sebastian was not sure what to think of it. He did not mind this, really. Cara seemed nice enough and, while Sebastian did value the time that he could hide from the world... He didn't mind her presence, really. She wasn't pressing him with questions, really, despite what she had seen just before and... well, he valued that. To be fair, he had yet to know if she would go run to Bolt about it... But that did not seem like the case.

He threw a knife and it clattered, not sticking to the wall and instead falling to the floor. He guessed that was what he got for being distracted while trying. "I think... I'll take you up on that offer." He did not mind practicing with the knives like this with her. It was a decent distraction, at least, even if it was not so good of a one as the bow. There was a different appeal to it - to being near someone he could talk to. "If that's all right?" He knew she offered... but many people made offers they did not mean in the moment.

"Cool," Cara replied. She didn't know how she felt about it still though. She didn't feel relieved or anxious with his acceptance. She didn't comment on his question. If she hadn't meant it, she wouldn't say it. She certainly wasn't going to back down after she'd asked. While she wasn't sure why she'd done it, she was sure some good could come of it.

And it would be good to train with someone else. And getting to know people made it easier to live with them. Apparently, she'd be living with this one for awhile, so it was better to get to know him than to constantly be waiting for something horrible to occur.
