A lot had changed for Piper recently. She was in a new place, a new home with a new life practically. She was adopted into a family, a lovely family, but still in her mind she would find her way back to her real family. She still believed they were here and just missing that they didn't die in the flood, but as the days drug on so did her hope. She was standing up on a fence post watching the horses graze in the field in front of her. She thought about going in there, but she wasn't game for getting slaughtered today. School had just gotten out and she was going to have to go home and do homework soon, but she decided to stop and take the long way home. Needing time to catch a breather and just think about what had been going on recently.

She had gotten a good grade on one of her two tests today, but she had failed the other one. Her parents would not be pleased with her performance and would make her study harder and she would probably be grounded once they found out. She sighed looking out into the field. She wished she could be free like the horses...not knowing what in life awaited them next, unlike Piper. Piper knew trouble awaited her and that was definitely why she took the long way home today. She watched the horses graze and took in the fresh air. It was going to rain soon, she could smell it, but she didn't care. So what if her bags got wet and her hair got messed up, she didn't. She loved the rain and playing in it. It was fun to her.

She heard someone walking up behind her, but didn't bother to see who it was. They would talk or she would leave. It wasn't that big of a deal too her.

The life of Aeron Moore was a pretty simple one, it seemed to consist on working out, playing sports, wooing girls and getting some sugar from the honeys. Besides that there wasn’t much more that could keep his attention, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just meant that most of the time he found things to be predictable and somewhat boring. But he was happy with his life, seeing how it was full of pleasures anywhere you saw it from.

That day, however, Aeron wasn’t all too happy as he walked back home. Not only had he failed both tests in class, but he had been called to the office for shoving a guy who had called Aislin “hot”, gesture which was completely unacceptable in his brotherly over-protective mind. Of course it was a double-standard as he used said language when referring to girls, but Aislin wasn’t just a girl, she was to be treated with the up-most respect and class, because Aeron would not allow anyone to come anywhere close to his sister. Ever.

Aeron wasn’t one to care about the beauty of the places around him, so it was only natural that he had not noticed the horses grazing to his right, and even if he had noticed chances were he would have not cared at all. He did, however, notice the hot girl walking just in front of him, a somewhat predatory smile appeared on his face as he sped up his walk knowing fully well this could end in a very pleasurable way to blow off some steam and stop caring about his failed exams, or being called to the office.

As he drew closer, Aeron recognized the girl directly in front of him. Her name was Piper, and she was part of his class, he had never really carried a full on conversation with her, but that wasn’t surprising considering the fact that Aeron didn’t really care to hold a conversation with most girls. As a matter of fact, if a girl could actually carry a conversation then chances were she wasn’t his type: dumb, pretty and easy.

But this girl had some potential, because Piper was pretty and from what he knew she could very well be dumb and easy as well, which would make her just his type. But there was only one way to find out…
”Hey!” he greeted her as he reached her side, he smiled at her with his signature white charming smile, in most cases the smile was guaranteed to get him to at least second base.

She heard a voice from behind, "hey!" Her heart sank. The voice belonged to a boy she was quite familiar with, because of her friends. Aeron Moore. She did her best at avoiding him at school. He was one of those boys you tried to avoid, because if you didn't you would fall for them. He was cute all the way around. Shaggy hair, muscles, eyes, everything. She looked to the side were he walked up. He was smiling. Hogod. What did she do? She could play it off as not hearing him, but that was a lie. A big lie. She had looked RIGHT at him. She did an inward grown and forced a smile onto her face. Not one of those cheesy fake ones, but one of those fake generic, "it looks real" ones.

"Hello. Aeron, isn't it?" She asked casually. You could tell in her voice that she wasn't one of those people that fell for someone just by looking at them. He would have to work a lot harder if he wanted to get into anything with her. She wasn't the type to just let someone take control of her, because of how she acted. She was a strong woman. She knew how to act. The boy was in all but three of her classes. She didn't know him too well and had only one other encounter with him that didn't end well, but she wasn't a jerk and wasn't going to blow off someone who was talking to her, that was mean. Wasn't it?

Her heart was beating fast. It was a different kind of beat. One of those...'I don't know what to do to get out of this situation' beats. She tried to think of some lame excuse to get out of here, "I'd love to stay and chat, but the Games are on and well...it's the law to watch them." She said casually. She knew that was a lie. She didn't have to watch them right this second. They would reshow important happenings later today. It was the norm for the Capitol and the Gamemakers. Why was she freezing up? What was this?

Her mind shifted back to the fact it was going to rain soon. She could use that as an excuse next. Right? Sounded good to her. She held her bag tighter and she was tenser than before. She was normally relaxed. She had heard storied about this boy and they weren't good stories. She chose not to listen to them, because she didn't want to judge a book by it's cover, but it was hard when everyone said the same thing about him. He was a player and would do anything to get inside your pants, but Piper didn't want that. She didn't know him like that. She wanted her first time to be with someone she loved and she couldn't possibly love a guy she didn't know.

Her mind was spinning, what the heck was this?

The Piper girl looked directly at him and he smiled at her, the most charming smile he could manage plastered on his face, she was going to fall for him, and then it was just hook, line, and sinker. She greeted him, naturally, but she pretended to not fully remember his name, which he knew was a lie, because she was a girl, and he was a hot guy, and from what Aislin said most of the girls in school were head over heels for him [which would explain why they were so easy to charm] which meant Piper knew his name and was just trying to pretend to be uninterested. She was going to play hard to get, he could tell already, it didn’t bother him though, as he enjoyed a good hunt.

"I'd love to stay and chat, but the Games are on and well...it's the law to watch them." she said and his eyebrows raised, he knew it was a lie, because even though it was true that they were meant to watch the Games, it was also true that they didn’t have to be stuck to the television twenty-four/seven. Which meant there were three options:
One, she didn’t want to talk to him because she didn’t like him.
Two, she didn’t want to talk to him because he made her nervous and weak in the knees.
Three, she didn’t want to talk to him because she wasn’t attracted to him, aka she was a lesbian.

And since one and three didn’t sound very logical, the reason had to be the second one. Which meant she had a slight crush on him of some sort. A huge grin appeared on his face at the realization.
”You know as well as I that we don’t have to watch them all the time, there’s recaps and all of that. Unless you enjoy watching people die repeatedly.” he said with another charming smile.

”Are you that kind of girl, Piper?”

The boy angered her. Did he just assume? Did he think before he talked? Of course he did. Who didn't? Well she didn't sometimes, but that wasn't the case here. She could feel the anger rising in her mind. She wanted to slap him. She knew him. She knew about him. He was that kind of guy that everyone was attracted to, but he wasn't worth the broken heart. The broken feelings. He was a player who had no feelings for anyone. He was the kind of guy that did what he needed to do, got what he wanted to get and then move on to the next girl. Did Piper know this personally? No, but she had heard it before and she valued the opinions of her friends that she had heard it from. Friends that had been through it. Friends who didn't deserve what he put them through.

She glared at him. ”You know as well as I that we don’t have to watch them all the time, there’s recaps and all of that. Unless you enjoy watching people die repeatedly.” Who cared? Did he not see her making an excuse? She made it for a reason. A good reason. Could he NOT see that? She didn't take her glare off of him, "Well some of us don't have all hours of the day to watch the Games. Some of us concentrate on school and family and...and other things!" She didn't have a family. She didn't have homework. She was lying. She never lied. It didn't make her feel good. It made her feel bad. She glared at him even more for making her lie.

"Are you that kind of girl, Piper?” His constant grinning and charming smile. It killed her on the inside, but she wouldn't put up with it. She wouldn't fall for it. She glared. "I'm no kind of girl for you, Aeron Moore! Unlike you I have feelings and a heart. A heart that I won't allow to be walked on and used and hurt and destroyed. My heart was broken once when I lost my parents and I don't want it broken again! So you can get lost now!" She wanted to stomp away, but that would make him the winner, because she was there first. She had to stay! She wanted to stay, because deeply she wanted to do things with him, but she knew better. She wouldn't allow her heart to be broken.

Aeron could tell she was glaring at him, which he found oddly amusing, girls normally didn’t glare at him, at one of his lines they would fall head over heels for him. He was charming, but Piper didn’t seem to be the kind, from the little he knew of her. Her words made it pretty clear that not only did she NOT have the best opinion of him as a person, but she was not going to be easy and fall for him, she represented something else: a challenge; which was something Aeron barely came across and truly enjoyed, his competitive nature taking over as it usually did.

”I have a heart!” he announced before grabbing her hand on a swift movement and placing it over his well-defined chest, so she could feel both his muscles and his heartbeat. ”See?” he added with a wink. Then as he pulled his hand away so she could either move it or leave it there, he spoke again:
”You have really soft skin, by the way, what do you use on it?” he asked, giving her a quick compliment, then remembering she was not the type to be won over with shallow words like his he quickly added: ”Aislin has dry skin sometimes, maybe whatever you use can help her!” maybe the family angle will work on this girl, he gave her the most sincere smile he could muster and waited for her reply.

[Sorry it's so short and it took so long, been awfuly uninspired lately]

Her mind was made up about the guy and she didn't like being played and she wasn't going to fall for his games. There was nothing he could do to win himself a night in bed with her or anything like that. It wasn't going to happen. Piper was stubborn and she liked it that way. She was independent and was adopted so she knew what it was like to be on her own and how to handle her own ground. She was use to this, besides the fact that her adopted parents were super nice to her and she loved them a lot. They were caring and overprotective, but she couldn't ask for it any other way. She looked at him, blankly.

"I have a heart!" and with that he grabbed her arm and put it on his chest, flexing a bit, she could tell and smirking, "See!" he said, too proudly for her taste. She bit him down really quick, "I see you flexing your muscles trying to impress me and the thing inside of you is probably a black hole." She stated. She hated being mean. She bit her tongue back so she wouldn't make another rude remark and watched him carefully, waiting on his next move.

She smiled, a tiny bit. A fake one, but a smile. An overly fake one. One you could tell was fake, but the thought counted, right? "You have really soft skin, by the way, what do you use on it? Aislin has dry skin sometimes, maybe whatever you use can help her." What did she use on her skin? Seriously? She wasn't sure if he was being serious or not, but jumped into an answer, "My ADOPTED mother makes this special kind of lotion." she said quietly, emphasizing on the adopted mother part. She wanted to be clear that she was adopted and bring family into this conversation will not be a good idea.

Aeron noticed the emphasis on the word adopted, he wasn’t sure why she was making a huge deal about it. It was not like it mattered to him, a girl was a girl, and he had heard somewhere that adopted kids were even more family-oriented than normal people since they were grateful to the people who had adopted them. So, he had chosen the right angle, one that he would continue to pursue especially after the discovery of her adoption.

”I’m sure Aislin would love it, where exactly can she get some, then?” he asked with a charming smile, if her adopted mother made it then that meant that she would most likely work at home, or perhaps at some shop around town. If he could charm his adoptive mother, then she could help him get to Piper, which was a win-win situation.

Aeron massaged his left shoulder with his left hand, making sure his bicep would pop out, a way to impress Piper with his muscular build. He pretended like he wasn’t doing it on purpose though, of course, he didn’t want her to think he was completely full of himself. If she thought his shoulders hurt then she might even offer a massage, which was another victory for him.

”My traps are killing me…” he commented casually.
