• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

It’s September now. Although the Hunger Games are normally held in December, the Capitol threw the norm out the window when it announced the five-part Games to celebrate the Quarter Quell. Now begins the final part of the five Games to be held this year, and the District Square reflects it. Banners, streamers, lights—even the poorest districts are decorated to reflect the joyous Hunger Games.

The district square overflows with people into alleys and onto adjacent streets. Television screens show a perfect view of the reaping platform built in the centre of the square. And before it, the two sections for the potential tributes: one section for boys and one section for girls. The nature of the Hunger Games was only revealed just last night, and now the unlucky few stand between the ropes that keep them separate from the rest of their fellow District residents.

Although it’s September, there’s a warm breeze that rustles through the square, sending chills down the spines of those waiting for the ceremony to begin. Residents are still dressed in lighter clothes suitable for the end of summer, and it can get rather hot in the tightly packed crowds, until the wind picks up to cool everyone off. People shuffle about uneasily, but soon it’s time to begin.

The escort and the mayor stand on the dais with the district’s victors. The escort beams at the audience while the mayor gives a familiar speech, and then it’s cut to the Capitol—Starla McFee sings the national anthem flawlessly. Then, like normal, the television screens show President Sinclair giving his speech from the Sixth Station, the place where the Hunger Games were first announced all those years ago. He reminds people of their past deeds, and promises a healthy future based upon the bright and vigorous present. The television screens cut back to the reaping platform, and the escort moves forward to the large glass globes that hold the names of all boys and girls aged 12-18, all of whom are A students, the special variable for District Six. And from one ball, she draws the girls' names, and from the other, the boys', after which she announces the the tributes:

Tyruel Cnvsk

Elless Kennedy

Honor Starfox

Reiale Lyfee

Male Bloodbath

OoC: You may now post in this thread to show your characters’ reaction to the reaping. Because all characters must be present in their own district, please only post here if your character belongs in this district or is the district escort. However, any district resident of this district may post: the new tributes, other teenagers, district residents of all ages, victors, etc.

If your character was chosen to be a Tribute, congratulations. He or she will be lead off to the Justice Building and cannot escape. At the Justice Building, a handful of family and friends can come in one or two at a time to wish your character good bye. If you wish to RP this, please make a separate thread in the District Square.

"Honor Starfox."

The words sounded almost fake to Honor's ears; they were strange, almost muffled, as if someone had stuffed cotton into her ears. No, no, no, not me, it can't be me, but it was her. It was her name ringing out across the respectfully quiet square, it was her name sneaking through the cracks in the street, through the shuttered windows of houses, through the leaves and grass and birds and mice and squirrels, it was her name that felt like a great flaming sword piercing her heart. Her world crashed around her head as she ascended the steps to the dias.

It was judgement day, and she was but a lamb.

Nicolas wasn’t an A student, and he didn’t really have to worry much for the youngest because they were a year shy of the reaping. Ryl, despite being bright, had dropped down to the Bs in a couple of classes last term, and although Mom and Dad had been angry, they couldn’t be happier at this point. He didn’t have to worry about Juneau, either.

This morning, he’d wasted his time working on some chainsaws he’d found in the dumpster last week, and the only thing that kept him from bringing one with him so he could tinker while he waited was that it would be assumed to be a weapon. Which, to anyone who knew passive Nicolas Powell, was absurd. Yet people were insistent on seeing weapons in everything, and the Gamemakers wouldn’t hesitate, either. Nicolas wasn’t about to give them the gratification of a public beating or execution to go along with their prized reaping. So he left the chainsaws behind, but he didn’t bother changing out of his dirty jeans and the t-shirt with the oil splatter on the front. His knuckles had grease in the creases of his skin, and he couldn’t say he cared. Yes, Nicolas had self-respect, but he’d had about damned enough of these Hunger Games.

The names were called, and there was no Juneau or Ryl or Nicolas, and life would go on as it always did. But next year, there would be six extra names in the reaping, and Nicolas would have to face the fact that there were six more possibilities a sibling might go to the arena.
