• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

A sweet breeze warms the town square as the population assembles for 101 Spring reaping. The weather is just warm enough that one can wear short sleeves, though cool enough that those in the shade might wish for a light sweater. Thinking about the weather provides a brief distraction from the large screened televisions that show around the square and surrounding overflow areas, all images currently trained to the dais in the centre of the square. Banners stream between buildings and lampposts to celebrate the festivities.

The escort and mayor stand up with the district Victors and Champions. The escort beams at the audience while the mayor gives a familiar speech, and then it’s cut to the Capitol—Starla McFee sings the national anthem flawlessly. Then, like normal, the television screens show President Sinclair giving his speech from the Sixth Station, the place where the Hunger Games were first announced all those years ago. He reminds people of their past deeds, and promises a healthy future based upon the bright and vigorous present. The television screens cut back to the reaping platform, and the escort moves forward to the large glass globes that hold the names of all boys and girls aged 12-18. And from one ball, she draws the girl’s name, and from the other, the boy’s; she announces each after she draws it:

OoC: You may now post in this thread to show your characters’ reaction to the reaping. Because all characters must be present in their own district, please only post here if your character belongs in this district or is the district escort. However, any district resident of this district may post: the new tributes, other teenagers, district residents of all ages, victors, etc.

If your character was chosen to be a Tribute, congratulations. He or she will be lead off to the Justice Building and cannot escape. At the Justice Building, a handful of family and friends can come in one or two at a time to wish your character good bye. If you wish to RP this, please make a separate thread in the District Square. Otherwise you may post at the training center.

Eldin played with the hem of her sweater and looked boredly across the crowd of people. She let out a tired sigh and wished that she were sitting in bed somewhere. She hadn’t been feeling well the past couple of days, and now her legs ached fiercely from standing when she should be resting, something she normally wouldn’t admit. But she hated the Games and she found the entire process tedious and exhausting.

District 7 had, of course, another volunteer, which made Eldin roll her eyes. The last one hadn’t made it very far. It had been humiliating for the district, and Eldin was certain that the volunteers would cease, but they hadn’t. It only seemed to invigorate people.

Derek had been dreading this day for weeks. Every year, about a month before the Reaping, Derek would get horrible night terrors. He'd wake up in a freezing sweat, unable to return to sleep. He didn't mind not returning to sleep, actually. But it always caught up to him.

And that day was here. Derek stood in the clump of sixteen year olds, holding his hand to his mouth as he exhaled a quiet yawn. Due to his unwanted popularity, he had many friends who surrounded him. They were all giving each other reassuring speeches, as they do every year, until the mayor stepped up to the microphone to begin the long, dull speeches.

Derek zoned out, thinking of anything that could have possibly calmed him down. His parents? No, because all he'd see is their scared faces. The boy at school Derek's had a crush on for two years? Not that either. It just reminds him that It can never be... His odds are slim. Yes, that works. Derek's name was only in the glass bowl five times. He has never had the need for tesserae.

It was working. Derek's spirits were lifting and the terrible nauseous feeling was beginning to retreat. That is, until the escort reached into the boy's bowl and snagged the piece of paper. The name echoed through the square, and the terrible feeling came right back, smashing into Derek's gut. Derek seemed frozen. It wasn't until the burning of his companions eyes on his skin, that he snapped awake.

He had to be strong. He held his head high and emerged slowly from the clump. As the stage approached, his confidence withered. "Be strong." He kept telling himself, but he felt as though he could have blacked out right there. Once he was on the stage, Derek looked out onto the crowd. No hands were raised to take his place. Only the sound of the breeze, flowing through the trees.

Everly woke up this morning with excitement, for today was the reaping. This is what she was training for, even though it's been about a year, she still thought she was ready. Every took off her closed and took a shower. When she got out she looked through her clothes to find her reaping day outfit, she found it hiding in the back.

*Click Clack Click Clack* The sound of her heels on the stone of the town square was annoying Everly, she was glad when she found her spot. After all the commotion of everyone finding their spots died down, the mayor went on with his boring speeches. Everly blanked him out until he was done. Now was the moment, the time of truth. The reaping was going to truly begin. The first name drawn was a guy named Derek Cardrew. Everly had never seen him before, this would make it easy to kill.

Next was the girls. The person shuffled their hand in the bowl, picking up a slip. Right as the first words came out, (Which was bath) Everly shot her hand up and yelled, "I volunteer as tribute!".

*Click Clack Click Clack* The last noise to be heard as Everly walked up the steps. It was kind of embarrassing, really, Everly even blushed before she walked up the steps. As Everly walked up the steps she was asked to give her name. "Everly Holt", she responded.

Everly finished saying her goodbyes and look at her district one last time, for it could be her last. She whispered "Goodbye" and walked onto the train. Which would take her to the heart of the capitol.
