• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

Ashnan was somewhat confused by what the girl was screaming, she could see her lips moving, but due to the movement and the fast pace of her words she didn’t understand a single thing that the girl said. She was happy though, that much was obvious by her body language and her big smile. The clapping, the jumping, everything indicated that the blonde girl in front of her was beyond happy, and yet Ashnan wasn’t sure how she should react. She had expected the blonde to be happy about the news, but such an overjoyed reaction was pretty surprising, in a good way though.

One word she did catch though, fruit the girl was pointing towards where the apple trees were, Ashnan raised her eyebrows, maybe she was a little psychic after all. How else would she know that the fruit she seemed to be asking about was in that direction? Ashnan was not much of a believer in luck either way, after all if luck was such a big thing in the world, why would she be the one who was deaf while everyone else was hearing? It made absolutely no sense.

She did the same gesture with her fist that she did before to indicate a yes, then bending her finger she placed it against her cheek and spun it around in a semi-circle.
Yes, apples. she proceeded to nod and then make a motion like she was eating something before pointing towards the same place the blonde had pointed at. She wondered if the blonde was going to go find the fruits, or if she just was trying to show off her new found psychic powers. Maybe all she had needed was some confidence for them to kick in. Maybe Ashnan was the reason that she was now able to tap into that part of her brain.

As the girl made the same sign again, the one that Maggie had swiftly learned meant 'yes,' she squealed in delight and jumped up and down again, thrilled with what she believed was the surfacing of her psychic powers. All in one day--that meditation before, in the grass, must really have helped! She hadn't felt like it had, but perhaps that was the thing--her powers weren't rushing in, so much as appearing slowly, manifesting themselves in small ways, like showing her where fruit was. And reading minds, mustn't forget that.

"Did you hear that, Daisy?!" she cried, glancing down at her pet goat, who was disinterestedly gnawing on the long grass in their little spot. She reached down and scooped the goat into her arms, much to the animal's annoyance. Daisy bleated, but Maggie wasn't in the mood to wait any longer.

"C'mon!" she said excitedly to the other girl. "Let's go pick some fruit! Was it apricots?" she asked, trying to remember what the word looked like that the girl had said. "Or...apples? My mom loves apricots, but apples are good, too!"

She turned, motioning excitedly for Ashnan to come with her on this fruit-gathering adventure, trying to hold onto Daisy as she wiggled in her arms, wanting to get back down.

It was pretty clear that the blonde girl was excited, she had even disturbed the goat by picking her up, the animal opened its mouth but Ashnan didn’t hear any sound, but that much was expected. She had always wished she could hear the noises animals made, she knew they didn’t speak because Lactans had told her as much but he had never been able to describe what the sounds each animal made were like, but he had explained they were all different. To Ashnan it had always seemed like they each had their own language, just like she had ASL animals had their own special way to communicate.

The girl seemed to urge Ashnan to follow her towards where the apples were, Ashnan nodded and decided to follow her somewhat psychic friend. The other girl asked her if the fruit was apricots or apples, and even though normally Ashnan would have rolled her eyes about the question [since the sign had clearly been apples] she decided to repeat it. She wasn’t exactly sure how to make it more clear to the girl so she decided to try and draw one in the air. Using her right hand as a reference point, she used the left one to trace the form on an apple in the air and smiled, hoping that the message would be understandable enough for the blonde.
Apple.

Ashnan followed the other girl who was holding the unhappy goat, she had forgotten everything about Lactans’ task for her. The chance to explore the fields seemed to be exciting enough for her to just go through with it. She tapped the girl in the back and traced some words in her arms, as she was certain she wouldn’t understand it if she signed it. She went slow to ensure the girl would get what she was trying to say.
Why you want apples? she raised her eyebrows so it was clear she was asking a question and waited for an answer.

Maggie was practically skipping along in the direction Ashnan had said the fruit was, holding Daisy and trying to move sideways, so she could trot along, jostling her little goat, who bleated in annoyance, and watch Ashnan at the same time, seeing as how watching the girl's hands was their main method of communication.

Well. That and mind-reading, of course. But Mags didn't want to assume she was perfect at that already, just because she'd done it once.

"Apples?" she said happily. "Apples are great! I like apples, and Daisy likes apples, and Mom likes apples! Only Daisy is supposed to have her own food, but she likes to eat everything me and Mom eat, so..."

Daisy was squirming in her arms, so Maggie let her down and slowed her pace a bit, so the little animal could keep up, though her little legs worked much more slowly than the humans' did. After only a minute, Maggie was too frustrated with the slow pace, and up the goat went into her arms again, the girl holding her on her back like one would hold a baby.

"We need some fruit to cheer my mom up," Maggie explained to Ashnan. "She's mad at me, cuz Daisy keeps eating all her expensive herbs and stuff, and she needs them for work, but Daisy doesn't know any better..." She planted a kiss on the goat's nose and grinned. "So I was gonna get her some fruit to make her happy. Apples are good. She uses apricots in stuff for people sometimes," she said, starting to hop along again. "But apples are good, because Daisy can eat those, and Mom won't be as mad."

She grinned over at Ashnan. "Do you work with the fruit?" she asked. "I heard everybody here grows lots of fruit!"
