• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

A sweet breeze warms the town square as the population assembles for 101 Spring reaping. The weather is just warm enough that one can wear short sleeves, though cool enough that those in the shade might wish for a light sweater. Thinking about the weather provides a brief distraction from the large screened televisions that show around the square and surrounding overflow areas, all images currently trained to the dais in the centre of the square. Banners stream between buildings and lampposts to celebrate the festivities.

The escort and mayor stand up with the district Victors and Champions. The escort beams at the audience while the mayor gives a familiar speech, and then it’s cut to the Capitol—Starla McFee sings the national anthem flawlessly. Then, like normal, the television screens show President Sinclair giving his speech from the Sixth Station, the place where the Hunger Games were first announced all those years ago. He reminds people of their past deeds, and promises a healthy future based upon the bright and vigorous present. The television screens cut back to the reaping platform, and the escort moves forward to the large glass globes that hold the names of all boys and girls aged 12-18. And from one ball, she draws the girl’s name, and from the other, the boy’s; she announces each after she draws it:

OoC: You may now post in this thread to show your characters’ reaction to the reaping. Because all characters must be present in their own district, please only post here if your character belongs in this district or is the district escort. However, any district resident of this district may post: the new tributes, other teenagers, district residents of all ages, victors, etc.

If your character was chosen to be a Tribute, congratulations. He or she will be lead off to the Justice Building and cannot escape. At the Justice Building, a handful of family and friends can come in one or two at a time to wish your character good bye. If you wish to RP this, please make a separate thread in the District Square. Otherwise you may post at the training center.

Reaping's seemed to come around more often these days then Emerald would like them to happen. Though she was still on the fence as to whether or not she would openly volunteer for the Games something that was once a pastime event in her life has turned into a nightmare in the course of a year. It was no secret that Emerald had lost many of her friends and family to these Games and outside of these Games, but Emerald had grown stronger from each occurrence. Maybe not at first, but overtime these life events have made her numb to the feeling of pain and emotions. She no longer cried. She no longer showed a sign of weakness and she no longer got close to anyone.

She stood amongst the girls her age eyes flickering to where Aaron and Cedric would be standing had they still been there. Flickering back to the same spot Kane stood each reaping. The perfect spot for them to lock eyes if they needed too. It was weird to see that spot empty. Emerald felt empty as she stood there listening to the mayor speak first and then the escort. She paid no attention to the video blaring on the screens in front of her as she had seen it millions of times before. Instead she stood there, blankly as the world went on around her.

Two peoples names called out. Neither of whom she knew. Two people stepped up to volunteer, again neither of whom she knew. She didn't show relief or show anything for that matter. She let the world move on around her until her older brother Emery brought her attention back to the world moving around her.

She stared at the tributes for a brief moment before looking at her brother Emery. She followed him through the crowd quietly watching her feet.

Another Reaping, and with four a year now it felt like you were never going to hear the end of it. Not like you did before. Kella knew her chances were running out. She was eighteen and in her last Reapable year - it was now or never, really. Until what had to be a year ago, Kella would have never put a single thought into even considering to volunteer. But things had changed and she felt the need to go was there. She knew she stood a chance - she was strong and smart, not counting the fact she had already managed to kill someone where probably no one else who'd be in the Games had. It was on of the last chances she had to go (she'd turn nineteen by the time the next Winter Games came around). So why not now?

Standing among the other's who were eighteen seemed normal. The Reaping was normal. In the back of Kella's mind she wondered how many were planning on volunteering and how many would actually try. By the end of the boring speech that never seemed to change, she knew that if her name wasn't drawn she'd volunteer. She had known that since the beginning of the Reaping. The anthem played, sung by some far off singer who Kella assumed was only famous in the Capitol. Then, finally, the moment so many were waiting for. If it was their name or not. Pride or sorrow. Fear and death or strength and pride.

Kella couldn't decide if she rather have her name drawn or volunteer. Either way, she knew she'd be going these Games. She knew that it was her time to go. And maybe, just maybe, Kella believed that this was the right thing to do. It was after all, a way to prove to herself that when she was kidnapped the death of the man she killed was not by default.

The girl's name. Not her's.

"I volunteer as tribute."

And that was it. She was going.

Delta kept looking at the golden ring on her left hand as if it were about to bite her. She could not believe she was married again. It was still unbelievable to her. Then again, she was glad they did it when they did because of course there was another Hunger Games so soon. This girl was getting a little tired of them. There was only so much time she could spend away from home. She had a one year old!

They told her she could miss some games, but that was ridiculous. Why would she ever miss mentoring during a Hunger Games? She wouldn't. They needed her help. They needed her for District 2 to be able to win anything at all. It had been ages, really, since her district won anything. Since her! No no, that was way too long ago.

She watched with sharp hawk eyes as the names were called from the stage. Some little thirteen year old girl started to step forward when she heard a voice shout out I volunteer. Her head snapped in that direction and she saw a muscular looking girl start walking towards the stage. Suddenly there was a smile on Delta's face. Oh this was going to be a good year. That girl was hers.

Cephas had made sure that he was looking his best today. Fancy clothes? Check. Well-done hair? Check. Grin? Check. He gave off what he felt to be the perfect aura for the Reaping, despite the fact that he was really freaking tired and it was far too early for this. He hadn’t slept well last night, as he was going through every possibility of how to best get through this day that he could create, though he wasn’t about to let anyone else know that. He was fairly confident in how he was going to do this, and it was all up to now to make it happen. This was to be his Games, he had decided that early on. Now he just had to make it happen.

Standing in his spot with his hands clasped behind his back, he kept his posture straight and his polite smile in place as he pretended to pay attention to the beginning of the ceremony. It used to excite him when he was very young, but years upon years of the same old same old got to be really boring. Couldn’t they refresh these things every once and a while? Oh well, he wasn’t about to complain. In the end, it would all be worth it. At least these things weren’t hours upon hours.

And finally, things were starting to get somewhere. The girls were first, as usual, and some little girl was called, only to be replaced by an older. Cephas didn’t know either of them, though really that was probably for the best. The boys were next, and again, it was some random child from the audience that stepped forward. The amused thought of, “Oh no you don’t,” rang through his head as the boy took a second step and Cephas called out loud, “I volunteer!” There was no way that he was going to let some nobody take the glory that was rightfully his. Like he said, this was his year. And the guy had probably been expecting a volunteer to take his place anyway. Whatever, the volunteer tribute didn’t care.

He stepped out of the crowd to let himself be seen, and with a bigger grin than that of before he had spoken up, he took long strides down to the stage for the entirety of Panem to see. Time to get this party started, hmm?
