• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

Antoinette stared outside the window, trying to spot any figure in the rain. It was one normal rainy day of district twelve and if she didn't have to do that stupid essay with her classmate Nymphadora Knox, she would most likely enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in front one of her uncle's many tvs. The Games were over and she could finally somehow relax, even if it was not exactly easy when she had to share a roof with her brother. Antoinette understood his pain, or at least tried to do so, but she could not stand that he treated almost everyone as if it was their fault that Aamina was dead.

Finally, she spoted a shady figure outside and she quickly run out of her bedroom towards the front door. She did not want her guest to wait outside. Besides, Antoinette did not want her classmate think that she had some sort of a servant to open the doors. Uncle Tomsy had no maids or cooks and neither Antoinette nor Tristan needed someone to clean and cook for them.

She run faster when she heard the knock on the door and then opened the door and stepped back to let the girl in. " Welcome." she greeted her and then sighed. " My room is upstairs." Then, she turned around and walked towards the stairs which lead to the upper floor of the house.

The rain always seemed to fall in District 12, some days it was heavy while other days it was light and even enjoyable. Today however the rain was far from enjoyable, in fact it was downright horrible. Anyone that was out in this weather was out in it because they had to be or because they had to be somewhere. For Nymphadora Knox it was the latter, and she made her way down the muddy and wet streets in clothes that were at least a decade or so out of date. The clothes fitted Nymphadora's body and shape rather well, but it was clear to anyone who was of higher status that this young teenager didn't really have a lot of money to spend on things like decent clothing. In fact Nymphadora barely had enough money to spend on decent food let alone anything else that most others took for granted.

Despite her situation, Nymphadora always tried to put a decent spin on things. She always tried to look at her situation as a child might do. It was a natural gift pasted down by her mother, who also had a natural childlike innocence and who always used to say that it was better to wear a smile, even in the most dyer of circumstances, rather than wear a frown. It was the very last thing Nymphadora's mother said just before she took her last breath of life, in the mice infested shack. They called a home, a home which was nothing like the destination Nymphadora made her way up to, while trying to keep her head dry as possible.

As Nymphadora made her way up the path to the rather lavish house, she spotted a figure at the front window. Although the figure disappeared shortly after Dora had spotted it, not giving the soaked through teenage girl a chance to see who it was that witnessed her arrival. When Nymphadora made it to the door, she knocked twice and intended to knock a third time. But upon the second knock the door slowly swung open and revealed her classmate, turned assignment partner, Antoinette. Before the teacher in their class put them together, Nymphadora didn't really have any reason to mix with Antoinette, she was of a different class. The kind of class that took things like food and clothes for granted.

Upon the welcome, Nymphadora offered a shy smile, and stepped in through the door of the large home "Thank you". Then as she began to take off her rather faded looking scarf, Nymphadora heard Antoinette say that her room was upstairs. Dora had seen houses with two floors before, but she had never been in one. Most of her life had been lived in shacks or big builds that only had one floor, like the community house.

As Nymphadora followed Antoinette up the stairs, she casually looked around her new surroundings with a child like awe upon her face. "How many people live in this house of yours?" The tone of voice in which the question was asked didn't really match Nymphadora's facial expression. In fact the question was asked as if Dora already knew the answer, she just wanted to hear Antoinette answer the question so that she could confirm her suspicions.

She and Nymphadora were so different. While Antoinette was dressed according to the latest fashion, her classmate was dressed in clothes which were fashionable when Antoinette's mother was still young and alive. Few people could afford a nice and big wardrobe and girls often had to wear their mother's clothes. There were girls in her class who grew up wearing their older sister's clothes. Antoinette always seemed strange among them, with her bright coloured clothes and fashionable shoes.

" Oh, just me, Tristan and uncle." Antoinette replied to the girl as they walked through a corridor towards her room. She opened the door and entered in. She had a large bedroom, with a comfortable bed and lots of chairs and pillows for them to sit on. There was a fireplace, and three large windows. Antoinette walked towards two chairs near the coffee table, where her books and notebooks were put on.

" Sit, make yourself comfortable." she said to the girl and then sat in one of the chairs. She picked up one of the books and put it on her lap and then waited for her classmate to sit. " Are you thirsty?"

Her bedroom is rather similar to this one

Nypmhadora figured as much, this house could take over fifty or so orphans and still have enough room for a few more. But only three people lived here, it just showed that being related to a victor has its privileges. It also showed just how screwed up the system had become. Nymphadora doesn't really know much about history, only what the school has taught her and that only really amounts to what the Capital wants them to know and to be taught.

But Dora had heard a few stories and rumours before the creation of Panam, before the days where the Capital was all mighty and powerful. These rumours spoke of nice orphan homes and places where children like Nymphadora had a really chance at a life, maybe even a real family. Unfortunately, the reality of today was far from these so called rumours however, the only real thing any orphan had to look forward to in the community home was getting reaped into the Games. Sure, most of the time it meant their death, but at least they would be treated like kings or queens before they faced their own demise at the hands of a fellow tribute.

As Antoinette led Nymphadora down a long and very lavish corridor. The young brunette took the chance to look over Antoinette's choice of clothing, which only made Dora feel like a dirty rat within her normal everyday clothes. When the news was announced that the two students would be parted up, Nymphadora was scared, even nervous. But Dora was also kind of excited at the fact that she might get to spend a few hours a day in a warm house, maybe even get some decent food and drink. Now that Dora was here however, she felt as if she didn't belong at all and would rather be back at the community home or helping the traders down the Hob.

Once inside the even more lavish bedroom, Nymphadora couldn't help but let out a small, shocked sounding gasp. It was as if a child had seen and tasted ice cream or a bowl of sweets for the first time. In fact Dora was so in shock over just how nice the room was she didn't even hear the offer of a comfortable seat and a cup of tea at first. But then as the shock started to sub-side, Nymphadora looked back to Antoinette with a wry smile, as she sat down in one of the chairs. "Oh hm yes I am rather thirsty." The tone in which Dora used to answer the question was like a shy child, who was answering the question of a parent who had just offered them a treat seldom had before now.

Sorry for the delay, been a super long and busy weekend for me.
