• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

A red-plumed bird flitted from branch to branch high in the trees, standing out among the bright green of the leaves. The fluttering of its wings blended into the chorus of the forest, but its song stood out in harmony. A second bird, not quite as colorful as the first, joined its mate before it winged its way to the unseen nest. A moment later the strident cries of the chicks filled the forest as they begged their mother for the much desired food.

Haikal watched the birds from where he sat at the base of a tree. One leg was stretched out before him and the other was pulled up with his arm propped up on his knee. He’d come here a while ago and had just sat. Some people would probably call him strange for just sitting and not moving except for the occasional shifting to prevent his legs from falling asleep, but he had a purpose for it. He needed to think and to clear his head. His father had been getting onto him again telling him how useless he was, that he should do something with his life and the like, but not so nicely put. Not even close. Haikal had walked out in the middle of the rant despite knowing that would only make things worse and had wound up out here. Like usual.

What would it be like to be a bird? All flitting and flying around, having no one to say what you can and cannot do, having no fences to keep you in or rules that must be obeyed. What a grand thing it must be to be a bird, or any wild animal for that matter.

Haikal finally took his eyes from the bird and stood. Stretching, Haikal glanced about him before he began to walk, going deeper into the forest. He tried to step lightly as to not frighten the animals that would be out and about, but that was probably in vain. Ah well, at least he was trying right?

Tulle...wasn't really fond of animals. Now, she didn't quite hate them since they were useful and sometimes really adorable - but that didn't mean she liked them other. They bothered her since she always wanted to know what was going on in their little minds. Whether they thought of her as friend or foe or dinner. There probably wasn't anything complex going on in their peanut brains other than 'frightened' 'hungry' 'angry' 'happy. Though, that could be said for humans as well, but a few more categories. In any case, whether she was more similar to any bird or rodent she saw, Tulle still disliked them. Maybe because she envied them.

They could roam free and go anywhere they want. They had the courage to explore but still knew when to avoid the big fish that would eat them up. Their lives where short, but they were fast paced and never slow. Never had anyone to put them down. While taking one of her walks after putting Lily and Basil to bed for a nap, she got distracted looking at the birds. Birds amazed her. See, they flew in a V for a reason. The leader led them and got force to continue on from the draft of the other birds flapping beneath he or she. Then the leader went to the back when it was tired and let someone else go before them. Whenever one was sick, two others would break off to take care of it or wait till it died. Tulle just wished that humans had so much synergy.

She sighed and looked down and the leaf ridden ground, just thinking about what it'd be like to just be free and live the way you decided. Until she heard someone beginning to walk not to far. She flew up and threw a rock at the figure, not really thinking to see that it wasn't a peacekeeper or someone of authority. Just a boy. She mentally slapped herself. "Did I hit you hard?" She wouldn't ask if he was okay, that would be redundant.

Haikal took a breath and let it out slowly. He didn’t particularly stay here at the moment. Let’s see. Where to go? The forests were always the same and he wasn’t too keen on head over to the hanging forests. He could go the orchards or perhaps the fields. That’s what he could do: go to the fields, specifically the one with all the flowers. They had to blooming now and it would be rather nice to visit. All he had to do though was avoid the house and he’d be fine. It had been awhile since he’d been out there, and there was no better time to go than—

All thoughts stopped as something sharp struck him in the head. “The crap!” His hand immediately went up to feel for any damage as he whirled around, eyes searching for the culprit. He found her a moment later and scowled. “No duh! Why the crap did you throw that at me?” He brought his hand down and looked at it. No blood. Good. She had a pretty good aim and that had hurt. Haikal rubbed his now throbbing head and mumbled to something to himself.

Where the heck had she even come from? He hadn’t heard her earlier. How long had she been even here?

She blushed a bit at her actions, but it was his fault for coming out of nowhere. Tulle had pretty fast reflexes as well as good aim so if he would've announced his presence when she was on guard, then maybe she wouldn't have pelted a rock at the side of his head. She did have to stifle a giggle, however, at his reaction. She rolled her eyes after getting over the immediate embarrassment.

"Well, I heard a noise and I react quicker than I think and when I hear sounds out of nowhere, I think peacekeeper." She scanned his head, relieved to not see any blood. Most likely he'll just develop a bruise or bump there. "You should get some ice on that so it won't swell." She said with a smile. The blonde was typically nice but sometimes liked to pick fun. "What were you doing anyways?" She should be the one explaining herself but if you snooze you lose.

Haikal stared at her for a moment, letting his hand drop to his side. “A noise isn’t a reason to hurl a rock at someone. And really? Of all the things to do you’d throw a rock at a peacekeeper. A peacekeeper. Brilliant idea that.” His sarcasm wasn’t hard to miss. Throwing a stone at a peacekeeper would definitely get one into some serious trouble. Well, if she wanted it that way then so be it.

He then rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest choosing to ignore her second comment. Giving her an annoyed smiled, Haikal said, “Oh you know, just minding my own business, unlike some people.” He watched her carefully. “Anyway, what were you doing, besides chucking a rock at my head?”
