• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

Camping in the woods. How stupid this could be?

Still, Catrain ended up going. Dressed in a pair of jeans and a simple t-shirt, she sneaked into the woods with a group of classmates. Her heart was beating incredibly fast, but she tried not to seem paniced. If they got caught they would all die. Maybe the peacekeepers would spare Catrain because of her sister, but the rest of those losers would probably end up losing their tongues.

Finally, they found a nice spot among the trees, where nobody could see them or hear them. Two boys started making a fire and Catrain took care of the tents.

After twenty minutes of struggling, the boys finally managed to make a fire. How did these losers expect to win the Games if they couldn't lit a fire, even with matches? Catrain always found it important to have basic survival skills. If she ever entered in the arena she wanted to make sure that she wouldn't starve to death in case the Cornucopia's supplies disappear.

She entered in her tent and opened her backpack. Of course she was not planning to sit around the fire and sing cheesy songs. The only reason she had come was so others wouldn't call her mad or anti-social.

Suddenly, music made its way in her ears.

Catrain jumped out of her tend, glaring at the kids who were sitting around the fire. " Are you mad or something?" Catrain scolded them. " If a peacekeeper hears this idiotic guitar we will all end up losing our tongues."

Camping. Always fun, especially when it was a big group. At least, Hazel thought so. She was well aware of the fact that not all of the girls thought so, but she thought it was fun. It gave them a good chance to practice skills that they otherwise might not actually get to practice. Everyone that was going were careers too so it really would pretty much all be a chance to train. Well not all of it since she had brought her guitar with her. Per request because they were going to make a campfire and singing around a campfire was fun.

This was her second time camping so she was really excited about it. Her first time camping she’d been ten and she’d been so scared about getting caught, now it was really more a moot point. After all, she technically wasn’t even supposed to train, yet she was training. So really, if they got caught it was just fate intertwining.

The only bad thing about the camping trip was the fact that Christian wasn’t there. That was just kind of stinky but that was okay. They could go camping just the two of them sometime. Plus even if he was there it wouldn’t really make that big of a deal, they’d be together, yes, but they wouldn’t be along, and honestly, if she was going to go camping with him she’d want to be alone with him. Because being alone with him was better than being in a big group with him. But just being with him was great too since she loved him and any time that she got to spend with him was amazing.

As soon as they made there way to wear they were camping they started setting everything up. She set up her tent then watched as the guys tried to make a fire. They weren’t very good at it, really they should’ve let someone else make it; it wasn’t a strong point of theirs. But then it was made and everyone was asking her to get her guitar out and start playing.

She grabbed her guitar and sat down by the fire and started playing a song that most everyone knew and could sing along to. Since if everyone was going to sing by the fire it’d have to be one that most everyone knew or else it defeated the purpose of singing by the fire.

As soon as she’d finished playing the first song one of the girls jumped out of her tent and asked if they were mad or something. She was scolding them and it was getting annoying. But what was she going to do about it? She was only playing the guitar since she’d been asked to bring it along, but it appeared that no one else was going to speak up which meant that she’d have to.

She sighed and stopped playing. “I really don’t think a peacekeepers going to care about all of us just sitting by a fire having a good time singing along to a guitar. We’re not training right now or anything like that.” Hopefully she wasn’t wrong on that though, but if she was that was just fate.

That girl clearly did not know a thing about the laws of Panem. If it was easy like that then everyone would go to the woods. People in the lower districts would search for supplies whenever they felt like it and none of them would starve. " Just going to the woods is illegal." Catrain informed the girl, wondering if she had even went to school or something. " It doesn't matter if we are training or not. We are not supposed to be here and making noise does not help us at all."

What would they do after that? Set the Justice Building on fire? Maybe make some song about why the Hunger Games should be stopped? Of course careers died so early in the Games. Careers like them, at least. How they were supposed to hide from their enemies in the arena if they made so much noise and didn't even care about it?

" At least play your guitar more quietly." Catrain continued, looking at the kids who were sitting around the fire. All of them seemed annoyed, but Catrain didn't care. She was being reasonable, after all. " I do not fancy becoming an avox."

Well, the chances of her becoming an avox were law, because Catrain doubted that her sister would allow it. Then again, Cat knew Paisley, and she could imagine her sister treating as miserable as she can if she ever became an avox.

Hazel nodded she knew that. She didn’t know why exactly they weren’t allowed but they weren’t allowed that’s all there was to that. There probably was some reason to it but she didn’t know what it was. And to be honest she didn’t really care after all knowing the reason wasn’t going to change a thing. “I know that.”

She rolled her eyes when the girl told her to at least play her guitar quietly. Clearly she didn’t know that there wasn’t really a quiet with guitars. There was a not so loud and a loud but it was almost impossible to make it quiet. And honestly she didn’t really want to play it really quiet; it just didn’t sound right to her when it was really quiet.

She started playing her guitar again strumming harder making it louder than before. “I’ll try.”

Catrain honestly wanted to take a rock and hit the girl straight to the face. She and her little friends deserved to be caught there in the woods and then become avoxes for the rest of ther lives. Catrain was honestly tempted to return straight to District Two and inform the Head Peacekeeper, but then these morons would say that she was with them too and then who knew what would happen to her.

" Oh, please, why don't you just walk out there, hitting this idiotic guitar to a tree and yelling 'Hey I am breaking the law'. I bet the peacekeepers would find you quicklier." Catrain said sarcastically and walked to her tent. She was not staying with those fools. She preferred to spend her whole night alone in her bedroom, but at least she would be safe there. Besides, there was nothing wrong with her house. It was huge, full of rooms she had still to discover, with more than then bathrooms, a swimming pool and all kind of luxuries one could dream of. And if she wanted to listen to the guitar, she would open the radio, rather than risk her life and freedom with a bunch of worthless teenagers.

She quickly packed all her stuff in her backpack and put it on her back. " I'm out of here."

Then, she rolled her eyes and turned towards the woods. When she heard it. Footsteps. Probably a dog. Peacekeepers.

With a face full of panic, Catrain turned to face the others. " It's your fault." she hissed to the girl with the guitar. And then she watched how the others quickly grabbed whatever they could from the ground and started running deeper in the trees.

" Let's go!" Catrain hissed to the kids who were left. " Run."

Then, she turned around and started running herself. If they so wanted to become avoxes, this was their opportunity.

Some people just worried too much. At least that’s what Hazel thought. She had it easy, she didn’t really worry about much of anything because fate would take care of it. If something was supposed to happen it would, so therefore, you didn’t really need to worry about anything.

She gasped cluthing her guitar at what the girl suggested, “Hit my guitar against a tree??? That would break it.” The guitar that she had brought with her wasn’t the one that Christian gave her but it was still a guitar and therefore still a treasure to her.

She watched as the girl walked away back towads her tent emerging a few minutes later with her backpack on her back. She was obviously going back home, which was fine by Hazel, because the point of the camping trip was to go camping and enjoy themselves, not to just sit there in a tent and be really quiet. She wasn’t planning on talking very much but that was okay she was still going to be out there with everyone having fun with them.

She watched as the girl turned away from her then turned to them a look of pure panic on her face. She hissed that it was her fault to her then the girl hissed lets go and run.

Hazel grabbed her guitar that was right next to her, she didn’t really need anything else, as long as she had her guitar with her and it was fine she would be fine.

She run up to the girl shaking her head, “No. It wasn’t. Clearly fate didn’t want us to go camping.”

Catrain rolled her eyes at the girl's words. Fate. Who would be that stupid to believe in fate? No peacekeeper would crush their party if she didn't play that idiotic instrument. Couldn't they camp without the guitar? The good cook food, talk and do stuff that normal teenagers did.

Once she made sure that both of them were safe, Catrain turned to look around her. Only her and the guitar girl were left. Great. Was she going to play some song to help their fate now?

" Stay quiet." Catrain murmured to the girl and glared at the guitar in her hands. Then, she turned around and started walking deeper in the woods, trying to figure out how they could return to Two. If needed, they could simply go another district and take the bus from there.

" You don't happen to have a map, do you?" Catrain asked the girl and then she sighed. Only Hercules, that boy from One had brought a map and he had run to the complete opposite direction of them.

They were lost. Catrain had no idea where they where and she doubted that the other girl knew either. They were practically screwed.
