• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

It’s cold. Winter grasps its frozen fingers around the district square, chilling all who stand out here in the February afternoon. Streamers and banners run from building to building, lamppost to lamppost as the nation celebrates the first Hunger Games of this year. The district residents, bundled in coats and jackets and scarves, pack into the open area and the adjacent roads and alleyways for a glimpse at the dais erected just for this occasion. Televisions displayed throughout the area allow those without a view a chance to see what is happening.

This is the beginning of a new era. From this point forward, Panem celebrates not one Hunger Games each year but four. This, the president had said at his previous address, is a thriving society. This is the future.

The escort and mayor stand up with the district Victors and Champions. The escort beams at the audience while the mayor gives a familiar speech, and then it’s cut to the Capitol—Starla McFee sings the national anthem flawlessly. Then, like normal, the television screens show President Sinclair giving his speech from the Sixth Station, the place where the Hunger Games were first announced all those years ago. He reminds people of their past deeds, and promises a healthy future based upon the bright and vigorous present. The television screens cut back to the reaping platform, and the escort moves forward to the large glass globes that hold the names of all boys and girls aged 12-18. And from one ball, she draws the girl’s name, and from the other, the boy’s; she announces each after she draws it:

Lucia Fintan

Len Kinlan

OoC: You may now post in this thread to show your characters’ reaction to the reaping. Because all characters must be present in their own district, please only post here if your character belongs in this district or is the district escort. However, any district resident of this district may post: the new tributes, other teenagers, district residents of all ages, victors, etc.

If your character was chosen to be a Tribute, congratulations. He or she will be lead off to the Justice Building and cannot escape. At the Justice Building, a handful of family and friends can come in one or two at a time to wish your character good bye. If you wish to RP this, please make a separate thread in the District Square. Otherwise you may post at the training center.

Well, here came another year. And hopefully, it would go the same way the others before it did, with two new Tributes from District 6 that Len neither knew nor deeply cared for. At least one, if not both, of them would die, and that really was a shame, but it was a yearly routine, and everyone knew it was coming, even the Tributes themselves.

The national anthem played, but Len just mostly tuned it out for the time being. It was when the names were drawn that he was paying attention, mostly out of obligation while he still had the chance to hear his own. The girl was called first, and wasn’t one that Len could say he knew. Well, that was a good sign so far, right? And once the girl was up, it was time for the boys. The name Allen Kinlan was called, and that was that.

It took him a few moments to realize that Allen Kinlan was, in fact, his name. Oh, oh crap. That was his name. So this was how it felt to be a deer in the headlights on reaping day. He never had wanted to find out this feeling, but like he said to himself so many times before, life wasn’t a wish granting machine. Clearly, or this never would have happened in the first place. But here he was.

“Well, move it, smart one!” he yelled at himself internally, and finally was able to follow through with his own wishes and step out from the crowd. The walk up from where he had been standing felt so painfully long, each step of his carefully taken and the majority of his time and efforts focused on keeping a straight face and polite smile in check for the cameras. He had enough sense left in him to make sure that the other Tributes would have no idea what Len’s abilities were like, whether ridiculously high or ridiculously low. It was time to keep them guessing. This little charade of his was rather well-played, if he did say so himself, but that wasn’t what he had been thinking about the very most of all.

“You’re an idiot, Len,” he berated himself, though, of course, not out loud. “Did you think that if you pretended the Hunger Games didn’t exist, they wouldn’t come for you? Fat load of good that did you, you should have prepared more! You’re doomed now!”

None of this inner debate showed through, thank goodness. If he had to go through with this, making a bad impression was something he understood to be hard to get out of.

Another year, another reaping. Except… it really wasn't another year, was it? After all, the insanity that was the Games was just… ugh. Wow. So many kids dying. Kids her age, too, and younger. Like that one blonde girl, from Four. She'd nearly made it. It had been so unfair. Lucy hadn't been cheering on the people from her own district, naturally. Honor, Ire, Reiale, Elless, Tyruei… And that had just been the final Games of the Quarter Quell.

And now, according to the President's announcements, the games would be seasonal. It was sickening. How could anyone want to kill the children of their nation in such a brutal and horrible way? And… that was her name.

Lucy's head shot up, and her dark eyes widened marginally. She stepped out of the crowd and headed up to the platform, biting her lip to keep the tears at bay. She could hear her twin, Sarah, screaming, and through that, she could hear Evelyn shouting her name in a panicked sort of tone, despite the fact that she knew that the younger girl couldn't honestly care less.

Somewhere amid all that, the boy had been called. She ignored him. Surely, he wouldn't be worth anything to her in the arena. Or at least, she hoped not.

Hal had nearly destroyed the kitchen when the announcement had occurred for the seasonal Games.

More kids dying - more chances for Pepper to be reaped. More of things that he would have killed not to deal with if he could. But it was easier thought than done to kill anyone who made these damned stupid decisions.

Hal watched from his seat on the stage, which played out as it always did. Kids were reaped. Families screamed and cried in protest.

When it was over, Hal moved off the stage with the enthusiasm of a turtle and proceeded towards the train. It was going to be a long month.
