• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

The peaches were gone; she had eaten them earlier in the day while she was walking. She tried to ration the peaches and the water, but in the end had consumed every bit of peach and the juice they sat in because she knew that they wouldn’t keep in this arena. Maybe if they had an arena that was cold, she could ration her food more easily, but in the end, that wasn’t possible. Besides, she needed all the strength she could get, and there had to be a way to get food in this arena or else they’d all starve. Maybe her sponsors would send her some food. Or maybe not.

At any rate, Eadan reached a desolate area of the arena. Barren, open. She disliked it. But after a brief walk, she came across a small stream. Water! Glorious water! Maybe she should proceed with caution. So she leaned down and cupped her hands together. Lifting a small amount to her mouth, she took a sip. If she didn’t feel well in an hour, then she knew something was wrong with the water. Or if she was dead, but if that were the case, then she wouldn’t have to worry about anything at all. She sat down near the stream to get some rest.

Eadan sipped water from the stream, taking her time and watching the arena around her. At last she stood up and filled the water bottle and empty peach can with water. The can wasn't as useful, but it served its purpose and she could drink water as she walked. Her uniform was soaked through with sweat, and she knew she needed to replace the lost moisture from the heat of the arena and the exertion used to keep alive and moving. She gave the axe a few practice swings, but didn't bother to strain herself too hard. She barely had anything to eat in the arena, and she wasn't going to use her precious calories for nothing.

She needed protein. Something rich and meaty to keep her going. That was one of the important things when out in the forests chopping wood; she had to make sure that she kept her energy up with necessary foods. It didn't work so well in here, and she knew that she would stand a better chance if she were used to these conditions. Unfortunately she wasn't, and thinking about it wouldn't do any good.

At last she came across a bush. And on the bush were ripe berries. She approached with caution, her hands on her axe, and looked around to make sure no one was waiting to kill her. She had taken some time at the edible plant section of the training centre and she knew a bit about the wildlife of the woods; although the latter part really wasn't helping in a fire arena, the combined knowledge of the two helped her conclude that the berries were safe to eat. She plucked several and stored them in the peach can, allowing them to sit in the water in the hopes that they would stay fresh longer. The flavour of the berries burst across her mouth as she ate at the bush, but at last she had to pull herself away before she made herself sick.

She wandered further to the arena, always keeping the water and the berries relative to her position so she wouldn't lose them. At last she found a wall of the arena and sat down in the folds of the rocks. It wasn't exactly an ideal place, but hopefully the stone structures were uneven enough that she would be able to blend in. Out there in the open, she was free game.

As she sat, she wouldn't allow herself to eat any more or drink the water; she had to save those in case she couldn't find food later. She thought back to the forest she had been in not that long ago and wondered why she had left it. There was probably food in there--game, wild animals, maybe some roots to eat--rather than the strange bushes over here than held fruit. She needed something heartier in her stomach, and she was certain she could catch something in the woods. But were they woods? They were a pathetic mockery of the place she found familiar with the pine trees and the beautiful flowers that sprang up from the forest floor. No, that dead forest was nothing like the forest she had back at home, and she wouldn't remain in the insult to--

Eadan cursed herself for reminiscing. That would do no good and she would only die faster. She supposed she was going to die anyhow, be it slow or fast, and she wasn't sure why she was hanging on. The forest, realistically speaking, would be her best bet; maybe she should head back there and see what she could do....

Eadan woke the next morning and saw a silver parachute drift down towards the ground. She reached out a hand and grabbed it from the air. Was she supposed to be thankful she got a gift? Normally when she received something, she gave the person a smile (albeit forced) and thanked the sender for a gift. But here where everyone was betting on her demise, she couldn't help but feel her cheeks ache with a grimace.

To her relief, the parachute contained jerky. She eagerly gobbled down one strip of jerky before packing the rest away and munching on some berries. At last, she knew she needed to move again, and where else, but the forest? It may not be her forest, but she needed the company of trees now that men were her enemy. Standing up, she dusted herself off and headed back towards the forest, stopping by the berry bushes and the stream on her way.
