• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

Why wouldn't Zoe be scared? She was stuck with a rich partier all day and night and had no experience or friends. She was hopeless. Actually, come to think of it, she didn't have many friends anywhere. People didn't like her because she wasn't a socialite, because she had her quirky ways, and apparently in the Capitol, she was actually kind of hardworking. Every day she was getting less and less call-ins for jobs unless it was a medication commercial or a radio commercial, something where you didn't have to see her face. Producers called it "simple", "plain", "boring", and the wanted younger people as the face of their commercial. Zoe didn't care. She'd be homeless for all she cared.

But no one, not even someone who judged books by their cover, would approach Zoe during training, or, frankly, any other time. And Zoe was continuing to question herself more and more.

The Capitol had seen it before, maybe: the strong one pretending to play the weakling. But how did anyone know it was actually true until it happened? Although Chamberlain didn't want to show weakness to Cadell, she didn't mind letting others know that she was perhaps the weakest person in the "Games" aside from the little baby.

"Excuse me," she said as she approached the woman she saw on TV every once in awhile. Dad always called her bland, but he never said anything negative about her; Chamberlain wondered now if he actually liked her, or didn't mind her anyhow. He never embraced a lot of the trends of the Capitol.

Chamberlain held up the sword she had found at a training station. "Can you show me how to use this?"

Zoe was startled out of her silent trance when she heard a voice behind her. SHe turned around to find no one where she was looking. Was someone playing a prank on her? Finally Zoe looked down and saw a small girl holding a sword in her hands. Immediately Zoe felt a lump form in her throat. This girl had to be one of the youngest kids here.

Zoe glanced down and forced a weensy smile, which were rare unless they were fake TV ones. Though usually she did depression commercials. That should have bothered Zoe, but she didn't take much seriously in life. it was against the nature of the games, she realized, to help the other tributes, but sadly, Zoe didn't think this girl was much of a threat. She though of asking if they wanted to join forces, but she remembered seeing the girl training with one of those old men.

Not knowing what she was doing, Zoe took the sword. She was tempted to say that she was sorry, she didn't know how to use it, but the little girl's face appeared crystal clear in her mind, pouted lips and tears in her eyes. Zoe thought better. Besides, you can learn something about weapons in one day. She walked over to a demonstrator and began to engage in combat. Immediately sensing the girl was a beginner, the demonstrator went easy.

Chamberlain circled around to watch the TV lady at the swordfighting booth. Now was as good a time as ever to see how good she was. Cadell's weapon of choice was the sword, and it wouldn't just be Chamberlain who'd benefit by knowing the woman's strengths in this area.

The booth had a wide variety of swords, most of which Chamberlain had seen in previous Games. Longswords, broadswords, sabres. Also other blades: machetes, scimitars, axe knives. Some of them Chamberlain couldn't put names to, but others she knew well enough. Granted, swords were by far her specialty, though if it came down to it, she knew she wouldn't fail in using one.

Her eyes turned from the weapons to the demonstration. Let's see how well Zoe Preen would do....

Zoe felt the girl's eye's beading down on her unaware, that she was tricking her. The demonstrator took a simple blow and Zoe managed to deflect it without too much difficulty. Now it was her turn. For flourish she spun and struck a low blow to the man's knees, but he simply deflected it and quickly came back at Zoe.

For a while they engaged in your usual sword-to-sword combat, then got stuck in a hold. As strong as Zoe's arm's were, the man wasn't pushing his hardest. Catching Zoe off guard, he managed to knock her sword to the ground. Lightning fast, she shot to her sword and was back up before the man could do more damage.

Of course, in the end, with the demonstrator going fairly easy, she still lost, though the battle lasted a good twenty minutes. It was luck she told herself, luck that he won. But in her mind she knew it was actually luck that she had managed to stay up for 20 minutes.

Slowly she turned towards the girl and asked quietly,

"How was that?"

Not bad. Not bad at all. She had stamina to make up for what she lacked in skill. Chamberlain had seen the trainer working with other Tributes (gah, she hated thinking of themselves as such!) and knew that he could be more challenging, but that wouldn't benefit Zoe Preen at this time.

"Is it my turn now?" Chamberlain asked, casting aside the woman's question.
