Red had some trouble figuring out what might be something good for them to do. He knew that he didn't want to do anything that cost too much money as whatever funds he did have were primarily for savings purposes. Besides, daughter to a Victor or not, Hallie never came off as someone who valued something like this.

It was then that he remembered the odd little roller rink made of wood in one of the few unused pastures. Since it was a school day, it probably wouldn't be that crowded. If nothing else the walk there would be nice to spend some time with her.
He had worked up the courage to let his mother know what was going on, so that at least she would be on his side if he showed up late for dinner tonight. His father was harsh, perhaps, but he seemed to cringe sometimes when his mother wanted the man to do as much.
For the time being, he just waited in the library after classes, hoping that perhaps she would join him soon and they could be on their way.
