• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

Valentina was hungry.

She was acutely conscious of that fact as she queued up in the actually rather short line for her dinner. She had waited a lot longer than she had really wanted before heading to the dining hall, the crowds were too difficult to navigate now. But it was still quite busy, perhaps everyone else had had the same thought as she had.

She pushed her way through the crowds though, she was going to get her food and she was going to get a half empty table too. That was one good thing about being pregnant, people always moved out of the way for her. She was almost at the front of the queue when she found someone who wouldn't move.

"Excuse me?"

Actually, Uaithne didn’t mind that there weren’t special privileges for victors. Perhaps it was because he hadn’t been a victor long and needed time to get used to the title, but he didn’t care that they ate with the others and received the same food with the others. Ronan didn’t like it much, but he probably still wouldn’t like it if the Capitol prepared a separate victor section. The thought of eating with the District 7 brute made Uaithne a little nauseous. The man seemed to be out for Callahan blood.

Uaithne reached the front of the food line and grabbed a tray from the front. He didn’t particularly care what they served to eat since he really wasn’t picky, but he hoped they wouldn’t cheat him out of half his meal like they did last time. However, his thoughts of food were interrupted when he heard a voice behind him. Turning around, he found himself face-to-face with a very pregnant girl. She didn’t look old enough to be popping out children, but there she was with a giant stomach.

“Huh, sorry,” he stammered, not sure why she had spoken to him or what he had done. He held his tray to his chest as he stared at her.

"Can I get past?"

She smiled at him as she indicated towards the front of the queue. It wasn't anything against him as a person, it was just that she was hungry and she wanted her food as was humanly possible. Actually speaking of him he looked vaguely familar to her, she knew that he couldn't be district eight but she definately recognized him. It would come to her in a minute.

Passed? He must be in her way. Curiosity motivated him to shuffle to the side so she could get passed him. He half expected her to grab a tray and move back to her position in line, or maybe catch up to some friends who were already receiving food, though a glance further along told him that none of them looked the sort to have a pregnant girl in their group.

Valentina smiled at him as she moved past. She was just getting a tray when she realized who he was - Uthaine Callahan. So now she was standing next to a victor, she had kinda assumed that they would be somewhere else but obviously not. And then again she was really hungry - perhaps victors would get extra food that she would be able to get off him. From what she could remember of the games he had seemed like quite a nice person really.

"Uthaine right?" she checked as she turned back to face him once more.

Uaithne nodded.

“Yes, that’s me,” he said. He hated being recognized and not knowing to whom he was speaking. Always made things even more awkward than they were. Next time he came to the cafeteria, he’d make sure that it was with Ronan even if his brother hated eating with everyone else. They could grab their food and leave to a more peaceful part of the evacuation centre.

“Can I help you?”

"Nothing."

Valentina wasn't going to actually ask him outright for his food, she knew that that was never really going to work. She needed to just have a normal conversation with him until he actually offered - of course she had never managed to succeed in this before but you never really knew in all honesty.

"I was just surprised to see you here."

"Oh," said Uaithne. He wished she'd move so he could continue along the line and get his food. Things weren't good as they were, and they were bound to get worse if anyone held up the line. Last night, he had seen someone get banned from the food area for a full day because she didn't move along the queue fast enough. Uaithne glanced towards the cafeteria-style food line where a row of workers dished food onto people's plates. The gap between the girl and the person in front of her grew by the moment.

He wasn't exactly talkative.

With a small frown she turned around and headed towards the hatch, she only had to wait for one more person now before she got served. As ever it seemed to be those women who were only ever judging of her and seemed to think she deserved everything she got - most women seemed to be like that actually, it was only the young mothers who cooed over her stomach.

Uaithne followed after her and slid his tray along the rail. The people working the food counter slopped food on it, and he wasn't disappointed with the results. Sure the food in and of itself wasn't particularly appetizing, but they didn't short him anything to eat. He didn't mind the glop they served him. When he was in his victor house, he ate the finest foods, and sometimes it grew dull. Sure, he never ate as well as he did as when he was at the Capitol, but it was still damned good food. A change--even for the lesser--was not unappreciated considering that often times eating such good food on a daily basis reminded him that he was different than most District residents in a way he'd rather not remember.

He identified the food on his plate as some sort of boiled green beans, a giant spoonful of stew, potatoes and possibly pudding. Down further was bread, and the woman working the counter smiled and gave him two rolls. Uaithne gave her a nervous smile back, not sure if he should be even looking at her because the smile she gave was a little on the creepy side.
