• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

Thank you to Suzanne Collins for the creation of Panem and The Hunger Games trilogy. And thank you for the following people who contributed to site design: Ring Wang: banner slideshow code, Revo: fixed sidebar code, Gem: site skin(s).

And many thanks to Sixth Station members for their characters, posts, creativity and work. Thank you to everyone mentioned and unmentioned for the work put into making this site the great board it is.

Thank You

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

Lia couldn't even look at Michael. She had that unmistakeable burning sensation behind her eyes, and her nose was starting to wrinkle in a way that suggested any understanding sort of look or any further words on the topic of Flynn would trigger a middle-of-the-woods meltdown for which she felt utterly unprepared. She nodded furiously, her gaze trained on the ground, but she didn't trust herself to say anything else. She had a million questions of course--how long he had known, the first, and the second, how the hell had he figured it out--but now was maybe not the right time for an interrogation.

She was grateful for the strange noise, whatever it was, that drew Michael's attention away. She hastily pressed the heels of her hands into her eyes, as if to shove back any tears that might be thinking of making an escape, and swiped furiously at her nose. With a great sniff, she straightened up and grabbed for her axe again, this time not bothering to pull it up on her shoulder, since they might actually need it soon.

"Should we follow it?" she asked quietly, her voice steadier than before. She leveled her gaze at him, to show she was serious, and not just looking for a way to change the conversation. If there was a f*cking fire-breathing goat out there, then Lia was going to chase after it and cut its head off. And maybe pretend it was Flynn...just a little.

Meadowlark

"Depends on what it is..." Michael started. Then he stopped. Because what it was made itself known, and it wasn't a goat.

The reptile was bigger than the last one he'd seen. The first thing to peak through the tall grass was a nostril. Its teeth peeked through the powerful jaws as it opened its maw and made a strange and bone chilling sound that Michael had come to recognize since his first venture into the swamps.

It might not have been what had made the sound. But the sound had made him aware enough to see the danger that had been lurking far too close, that was not probably very aware of their presence. An axe might do some damage to the reptiles hide, with the right kind of force behind it, but Michael thought perhaps it was better to not test its power.

"Not a goat," he noted, taking a step back. He looked around. "Maybe we should save the axe wielding for the furry dragons. The scaled dragons can be harder to chop in half."

Another step back. The reptile was moving slowly. Maybe it had been asleep. He could see its eyes now. Creepy eyes that held no emotion or caring. It took another step towards them.

As it turned out, there was no time for grief or head-chopping anger or anything of the sort--because there was no goat to chase, no head to chop at all. Only, you know, a giant-as-shit alligator, crawling out of the tall grass and chomping its teeth at them as it trundled forward in a deceptively lazy manner.

What the hell had she done, coming here?

Lia gripped the handle of her axe ever tighter, though she knew it was useless. She couldn't even make a dent in a baby tree, for god's sake; there was no way she could do any real harm to that alligator, even with a full-sized axe. She edged away slowly, the way Michael was doing, her heart hammering in her ears.

"Does it eat people?" she hissed at Michael as she backed away, suddenly curious what those giant teeth were for. "Can it run? Why don't we just run?"
