• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

A sweet breeze warms the town square as the population assembles for 101 Spring reaping. The weather is just warm enough that one can wear short sleeves, though cool enough that those in the shade might wish for a light sweater. Thinking about the weather provides a brief distraction from the large screened televisions that show around the square and surrounding overflow areas, all images currently trained to the dais in the centre of the square. Banners stream between buildings and lampposts to celebrate the festivities.

The escort and mayor stand up with the district Victors and Champions. The escort beams at the audience while the mayor gives a familiar speech, and then it’s cut to the Capitol—Starla McFee sings the national anthem flawlessly. Then, like normal, the television screens show President Sinclair giving his speech from the Sixth Station, the place where the Hunger Games were first announced all those years ago. He reminds people of their past deeds, and promises a healthy future based upon the bright and vigorous present. The television screens cut back to the reaping platform, and the escort moves forward to the large glass globes that hold the names of all boys and girls aged 12-18. And from one ball, she draws the girl’s name, and from the other, the boy’s; she announces each after she draws it:

Fawn Cassidy
&
Trillium Eldren

OoC: You may now post in this thread to show your characters’ reaction to the reaping. Because all characters must be present in their own district, please only post here if your character belongs in this district or is the district escort. However, any district resident of this district may post: the new tributes, other teenagers, district residents of all ages, victors, etc.

If your character was chosen to be a Tribute, congratulations. He or she will be lead off to the Justice Building and cannot escape. At the Justice Building, a handful of family and friends can come in one or two at a time to wish your character good bye. If you wish to RP this, please make a separate thread in the District Square. Otherwise you may post at the training center.

Ronan might have been slightly intoxicated, but just a little, and he didn’t need to walk around, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. It kind of made the reaping more fun, but every time he opened his mouth, Uaithne poked him swiftly and suddenly. It hurt, and the jabs made him shut his mouth and forget temporarily that he was going to say something. Pity because he had a lot of really funny things to say.

The tributes of District 5 were nothing special. The same sort of sorry lot they normally had. The Gamemakers would ensure that District 5 died within the first few days just to make sure that there would be no new winners, and then everyone would go on with their lives as normal, short two kids that no one probably even cared about.

Watching the officials move about on stage, Ronan noted that the escort had the tackiest dress of the century. The old hag was going senile and probably didn’t even realize what she was wearing. Or worse—she knew and loved it. Ronan shuddered at the thought and leaned over to ask Uaithne what he thought when Uaithne shot him a hellish look.

Ro is cripple in a wheelchair. If Gem makes this character walk, it's because Gem has issues. Feel free to call Gem out in the cbox because it's not the first time.

During the night, Ronan had managed to sneak a flask of alcohol in somewhere and Uaithne hadn’t found it. Not that Uaithne was controlling Ronan, but there was only so much alcohol one could drink before dropping one’s guard, and Ronan needed to have his guard up in the presence of the Capitol. Except by the time lunch rolled around, Ronan was pretty out of it. Uaithne had taken the kids to their old neighbor—a lady who watched them whenever he and Ro went to the Capitol—and dropped them off before they could see inebriated Ronan.

The speech at the Reaping was dull, the singing was dull, everything. He didn’t understand how the Capitol could suffer through the exact same thing year after year—and now they had it multiple times a year. But he forced himself to stand still (with the odd, subtle nudge to Ronan to keep him in line) as he pretended to listen to what was going on. He glazed over by the time the names were actually drawn, and the kids that came to the podium were nothing more serious than a television programme.

This was stressful but Fawn hadn't been too worried. She was so confused by everyone's somber faces during the reaping. Her grandmother had brushed her hair ten times this morning she was so distracted. The Hunger Games were not a big deal. They had them every year or even many times a year and nothing bad had ever happened to Fawn. Nothing bad could happen to her because why would it? The games weren't even that bad anyway although she could do without all the graphic blood on television.

Standing there in her nice new dress, Fawn watched as the beautiful Starla McFee sung the anthem. She even sung along to it under her breath while the girls closest to her gave her dirty looks. Fawn guessed maybe they didn't like the melody but that was alright because suddenly the song was over and the escort was drawing the name from the little bubble up on stage.

It didn't register with her when her name was called. Not because she shocked or anything she just wasn't paying attention. The girl behind her pushed her forward rather hard and she stumbled as she started making her way to the stage. Wow, so this was what being reaped felt like? It was rather surreal, she thought as she stood there with huge eyes while cameras and eyes focused on her. Maybe she was wrong when she thought nothing bad could happen to her.
