• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

The stay at the evacuation center wouldn't have been so bad if he wasn't there with her.

Pumpkin stared at her bloodied finger-nails. A shudder of excitement went through her as she remembered Liam's wail of pain when Pumpkin clawed him, her sharp nails going from his temple and down to the jaw-line. It was so nice, giving pain to men. She smiled some.

The bastard was to sleep in the same room with her. On the cot right next to her. She remembered when he had announced it with that sly smile on his face only a few minutes ago. Pumpkin couldn't help but attack him; she raked that goddamn face with her nails. But, she did feel somewhat guilty when she saw the look of betrayal and sadness in his eyes.

She had stormed out after that, and somehow ended up in the dining hall/cafeteria. People were coming in for dinnertime. Pumpkin sat on one of the benches, glaring at the table in front of her. Absentmindedly, she stretched her legs out, accidentally nudging somebody in the leg with her foot. Pumpkin flinched, and looked up at who she had touched. Pumpkin instantly recoiled, and wrinkled her nose. It was a man. A man who smelled terrible.

Having so many people surrounding him both dulled and invigorated his senses. On one hand, it was a flurry of confusion as he saw various fractions of the future in their faces, but on the other, there were so many things to see and distract himself with, he knew that he would never grow bored inside this evacuation centre. Tired, yes, but not bored.

As he sat eating his dinner, he surveyed the cafeteria and watched people come and go. Some of them he could see nothing, though on a few the glimpses he saw provided him only minute insights into their futures. Most of them were small things, a picture of a tree, a bright flash of colours. He wasn't good with nailing down the bigger picture. But who could blame him since he wasn't fully trained?

Someone bumped into him as he ate, and he looked away from his sightseeing at the girl who sat across the table from him. He could see nothing in her, though it wasn't a surprise; most of the time, people were just people without the visions of the future written on their faces.

"Sorry--can I help you with something?" he asked, assuming that she needed help since she got his attention.

The sound of his voice made her skin crawl. Pumpkin glared at him. "I'm fine," she said, obviously annoyed.

Pumpkin looked down at her finger nails, which were digging into the table. She could just imagine it...doing what she did to Liam. Slicing this guy's face open with her nails. Sure, they weren't as effected as, say, a knife, but luckily they hadn't been trimmed in a while, and still brought some pain. Liam was proof. Pumpkin looked up at this new boy. If she could bring Liam pain, why couldn't she do the same to him? Why couldn't she bring pain to all men?

Including her father. Pumpkin relished in that thought. Including Father...

She stared at the boy long and hard.

"Do it," said a very feminine voice. "Do it. Just like Liam..."

"Just like Liam," Pumpkin echoed, and closed her eyes "Just like Liam..."

Januar raised an eyebrow as the watched the girl. Ooookay. She was kind of weirding him out, and he wasn't sure how to respond to what she had just said. Chance are, she needed help, but Jan didn't think it was the sort that he could provide.

"Uhm, maybe a glass of water or something?" he suggested, hoping that she would say no, and then they could go on their merry way with dinner. But it just seemed wrong to not at least offer.

Pumpkin slammed her fist, managing enough force to make the table shake slightly. "NO! I don't need your kind!" She took in a deep breath, before adding, "Knowing your kind, you'd probably spike it or spit in it or...or something..." Her hands itched to touch him; and not in a lovingly way; a cruel way. Like a harsh slap on the cheek, or a fist to the eye. A clawed face...Pumpkin smirked, enjoying her violent thoughts.

Januar blinked and looked at her. Yeah, this was so not cool.

"My kind. . ." he said carefully. "Okay, have a nice day."

He gathered up his stuff to leave and go find more pleasurable company.

Pumpkin watched him get up. "Have fun in hell," she grunted.

Jan nodded to her and pushed the chair back in towards the table so no one tripped on it. He prayed that no one decided to take his spot lest they face the strange creature on the other side of the table. The cafeteria was fairly crowded and though there were a few other spots, Januar decided that maybe he wasn't that hungry after all, though the stored the dry food in his pockets for later as he walked towards the tray deposit.

Pumpkin stared at him until he finally he disappeared from view. Pumpkin let out a small sigh. For some reason, she regretted the mean things she had thought and said. After all, he seemed considered...slightly. He definitely wasn't like Liam, or Ronan. But, then again, men were deceptive, lying little snakes. He could've been just pretending to be worried...right?

Realizing she didn't get any dinner yet, Pumpkin got up, and hurried over to the serving stations.
