• Next Hunger Games
Our next Hunger Games is a little different than our previous ones. Called "Battle Royale," this Hunger Games will feature one lucky class to be sent to the Hunger Games together. Mr. Dressler's honors history class tried to ignite revolution in Panem. And for their trouble, they will be sent to the arena together. Join us by making a high school junior (16-17 years old) from District 11. See the Battle Royale Subforum for more information. We aim to start in December so now's the time to start developing your character!

And many thanks to Sixth Station members for their characters, posts, creativity and work. Thank you to everyone mentioned and unmentioned for the work put into making this site the great board it is.

Thank You

After four years, we have decided to close down Sixth Station. The site has meant so much to many of us who spent countless hours into our game. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our game.

The 101-Fall Hunger Games are wrapping up. You have 24-48 hours to enter the final posts. Members can still post in the "History of Sixth Station" and the "Connection" forums.

Definitely no fire. A round of good verbal (and physical) altercations would help her keep on top of her game. But the boy merely acquiesced and changed the topic again. From the Games to her hobbies and now, why she had approached him. Arista set down her handbag on the sofa slowly.

"Even a brain-dead slug could see why, surely?" She looked around the lounge pointedly, a sneer of distaste on her face. "Some of them are alright, yes. But we share something they don't. We fought, bled and killed for our right to live. And they just... exist. For that, we are superior to them." she explained.

Yes, Capitolites weren't all bad - she had made some good friends and connections over the years, but most of them struck her as banal, petty and boring. If she had to hear for the umpteenth time how a chihuahua had had it's fur changed from green to dark green because it suited that month's fashion better, she would scream.

"Besides, I thought you might prove interesting. And you have, if only to help me use my handbag as a weapon." she cackled loudly at that, startling two small children nearby who promptly began to cry.

Oh. Uaithne didn’t realize how many people had started to fill in . . . he must have spaced out.

Uaithne didn’t think that he had much in common with Arista. Sure, they were both Victors, but she had already pretty well divided them within the first three minutes of conversation. Her opinions on the Hunger Games weren’t much of a shock to him, but she had been clear that they viewed their world in completely different manners. Arista was far closer to a Capitolite than she was to a regular resident of the districts.

“They might be stupid, but they’re still human,” Uaithne shrugged. Not that he could blame her for limiting her interaction with them.

People? Yes, they were people. But what did they contribute to society? Nothing at all, the ingrates! Most Capitolites shared nothing with the rest of Panem, and probably couldn't care less as long as they still got they jewelry, technology and clothes.

Now, she didn't blame them. She liked living as a Victor, and the lavish lifestyle she had led for many years in the capitol before finally settling down. Now, she did what she could to decorate her manor in the Victor's Village, if only to enjoy some of the luxuries they had in the Capitol.

"Yes, they are humans. But even you, in your lesser districts, know more about the realities of life than they ever will. In the Districts, all of us had to work for our bread."

Uaithne had to admit that she had a point. Most Capitolites did nothing of great value to the country. He didn’t like their society, and he certainly didn’t like what they had built. But some of what Arista said confused him.

“Yeah but without the Capitolites, you wouldn’t have the Hunger Games,” he said. “Your entire life revolves around your, er, accomplishments in the arena. So you look down on the people who have allowed you to achieve your greatest goal?”

Emotions were never logical. And as much Arista hated to admit it (she had looked down upon the Capitolites for over sixty years), the boy had indeed made her realize the inconsistencies in her distaste for these people.

"I did say some of them were alright, did I not? Obviously that includes the Gamemakers." She replied harshly, going quiet for a moment as the anthem began and all screens were invaded by the image of the girl from Seven mourning her partner.

“But without—” he started, but the anthem turned on and the woman’s attention was drawn to the screens. Uaithne felt uneasiness settle into him. He hated the anthem. It was a tool to remind people that one more face up there meant the chances of going home got better. And yet . . . when he had been in the arena, he had been relieved to see more faces appear in the sky. It made him sick.

The last Hunger Games had only lasted four days. Would this one be longer? A fair number of kids died today. And was it just him or were Games getting shorter? Each time it came around, it didn’t last quite as long. His was eight days long, and that was fairly short. Every once since then had been shorter.
