Within this thread are two different application types: one for victors and one for all other characters. You will choose the appropriate one and paste it in a new thread which has your character's name for the title. Please note that each of the applications has two parts: "Application" and "Profile." Only fill out the "Application" part when applying the character.
It's shorter and thus takes me less time to approve so you can begin playing sooner. This means you will fill out everything through
the member information (your name, where you heard about us, etc).
Don't put tons of information in the application. Write enough that I can tell you understand your character, but please don't ramble. Remember that concise is nice.
The application is short on purpose. It's so I don't take 25 years to accept it, and you don't take forever filling it out when you want to jump into the game and play. BUT this means that if you edit something into the profile that's inappropriate for the RP, I will PM you and ask you to change it.
DO NOT POST WIP APPLICATIONS. I WILL DELETE THEM. But if you need a place to temporarily store a character you're making, please PM it to yourself or post in this OoC forum
Notes for getting accepted on the first try:
- All characters under 18 must have "student" for occupation. They can also have a side job, but they are required by law to attend school. The exception is if you talked to me before hand.
- For strengths and weaknesses, please include at least the following:
-- two physical strengths (skills)
-- two mental strengths (skills)
-- two physical weaknesses
-- two mental weaknesses
- For the "About" section, show that your character is well rounded. This includes a couple sentences about history/background and a couple sentences about personality. Don't stress about this--it's only 150 words--but don't focus on a single aspect of your character.
- Take your time writing this application. It's short, but it shouldn't be rushed. Although you aren't expected to know everything about your character, you should be able to show that you have a decent grasp on who this character is. This application should take you longer than five minutes, but it shouldn't take you days.
Example of an application "about" section that's mostly personality-based:
QUOTE (Gem's Lee)
Curious and sensitive, Lee enjoys action and adventure. For a kid, he's fairly good at sitting still, and he's smart, too. He excels in hands-on learning activities and is privately taught by his father and tutor. He loves hanging out with his sister and doesn't have many friends outside of the family ever since he was pulled out of the public education system. He's empathetic towards others, which leads to his sister teasing him. Of the two Taylor children, he takes after their mother more than the father. He loves watching the Hunger Games, but he always asks weird questions that his family doesn't entirely appreciate. He lives with his father and his older sister; his mom died four years ago.
This "about" section approaches the character's personality from multiple angles from his general personality to learning to how he handles his family. It does not dwell on the Hunger Games. However, it also addresses his background, though briefly, by stating his relation to various family members, etc.
Example of an application "about" section that's history- and personality-based:
QUOTE (LJ's Tristan)
Tristan was born to the older brother of the ever famous Michael Tomsy. Ever since he was little, all he wanted was to win the Hunger Games but not to be famous or rich. Tristan just wanted to prove that the family name was more than just his drunk partying uncle. The Tomsy's were respectable. Tristan lived with his parents not in Victor Village but still in a wealthy part of town as his parents were merchants. When he wasn't going to school, he was training his hardest for the games. He's competitive but not hard on himself, saying that it's better to do your best than be the best. He's vicious and wouldn't hesitate to resort to violence if needed but he's not overly cruel. People say he has a good head on his shoulders. Recently his parents were publicly executed by the Capitol, saying they were traitors. With his uncle dead in the Victor games, him and his sister are now orphans.
This one gives both a history and personality, weaving them together to show a solid picture of the character. It's brief--it doesn't go into every detail about the character's life. Further, it talks about several personality traits and doesn't focus solely on the Hunger Games.
